New bed...

I got a bed from Ikea...quite a steal! I purchased it in early summer for $85, original price was $300. I had to hold onto it in my old apartment for quite some time. So, this past Sunday seemed like a good time to put it together.

I plan on repainting the awful urine color as soon as things get settled, but until then I will have to deal with the color, I suppose.

I thought that organizing the pieces would make this less stressful...it did.

And now I begin!

Not too bad so far.

According to the photo, more than one person is required for assembling this bed! I have no one else to help, so I will make it work.

Thus far...no help!

I ran into an obstacle...the ceiling fan! Too tall, so I had to switch rooms. I waited until Josh got home, two people do make the process a bit smoother and quicker.

The finished bed. Please don't mind the missed-matched pillow cases. The nice ones are still in a box somewhere. Next to the bed are the end tables that I found at The Ark Thrift Store.

This is the color that I plan on painting the bed. Josh suggested that the side tables would look swell in a lacquered black. Sounds good to me. I will post photos once the projects begin!

Lola stayed in the office during the assembly. She sneaked off into the closet.

New purchases...

Found these great pillows at HomeGoods. I am planning on using them in my sun room. Not sure how the room will turn out, it will certainly be a work in progress! Josh is convinced that they are dog pillows, but I think that they are not.

Oh, buying a new home meant that I got what the previous owner had...the refrigerator was the first problem that I found. The freezer worked; however, the refrigerator did not cool well. This I found out after I moved.

So, I have been without a refrigerator for quite some time...and until Saturday when this one will be delivered. I am quite excited about the new refrigerator!

Busy...

I have moved! I am now in a great home in Logan Square. There will be plenty of opportunity for redecorating! I am most excited that there is a basement...a room for me to work on my projects! The ceiling is quite low, but at least I have somewhere to work during the winter and rain. I must apologize for the photos, they weren't taken by me.

The kitchen is awful! One of these days, it will be perfect.

New addition...

I was thinking that I may add some random design items to the blog that don't necessarily have anything to do with my furniture side business, but still design nonetheless.

I saw this cute toy from rotofugi, I don't need it, but it is pretty adorable. Thoughts?

Coming soon...

Well, as we were looking for a parking place last weekend, we were turning around in the alley and spied a chair outside of a garage sale. It looked like an Eames-style chair...unfortunately, it was not for sale. So, I felt obligated to look around the garage sale. Upon closer inspection, Joshua noticed this hiding in the corner. What is even better...it was only $20! What a steal. Not sure what I will do with it in terms of color, but it is a keeper.

not really...but kinda

So, a dear friend of mine did the design for School of the Art Institute of Chicago's admissions catolog, doesn't really have anything to do with my blog...kinda I suppose. I wanted to share it with those who read my blog. Check it out...

So sorry...

My deepest apologies! School has started and my personal time is a bit non-existent! I was taking my dog to the groomers today and spied a great table in the alley. I threw it in my car, and upon closer inspection, I discovered that it wasn't so great after all. I decided to give up on the table.

Worry not, I have another project that I will begin shortly. I have my parents searching alleys and the streets of central Illinois for items ready for a new look. My father sent me some photographs of the next project...take a gander!

Also in the works...I am going to add a partner...my friend Ji Hye. She and I are going to work on searching out the treasures and working together. Partners in crime are always fun. We have a plan for next year...stay tuned!

Please be patient with my lack of postings! Don't leave me. I will be back! Perhaps if she has some free time, she may be a guest blogger too?
